Yarn Along..

Our December weather has been extremely mild.

It is such a treat to throw the doors open and enjoy
experimenting with the colors of Madder.

The diversity of  the Madder root has captured my heart.

While I miss the snow it has been wonderful to enjoy
long warm walks on our favorite trail.

... that moon ...

Just finished reading:
The Children's Blizzard

This story kept me up to the wee hours of the morning to finish the book.

It particularly appealed to me as our distant relatives were immigrants
from Norway and settled in the Dakotas.

After reading this I can't believe anyone survived
leaving their homeland, homesteading, and the wrath of Mother Nature!

  5. I will have to add that book to my list. It sounds very interesting. I love the colors that can come from madder root. That is a fun natural dye project that I am hoping to do next summer.

  6. Beautiful yarn colors! It's been unseasonably mild here in Ohio too, and as much as I enjoy a white Christmas I'm really not too sad about 50 and 60 degree temperatures! I haven't heard of the book you're reading but I'm intrigued, especially since I'm hoping to read more non-fiction in the coming year.

  9. What beautiful colours.
Here in England we've had the mildest December for over fifty years, I actually miss the biting cold days and excuse to wear lots of handmade woolies!
